Freeware is copyrighted computer software which is made available for use free of charge, for an unlimited time, as opposed to shareware where the user is required to pay (e.g. after some trial period or for additional functionality). The license may be "free for personal, non-commercial use." Everything created with the freeware programs can be distributed at no cost (for example graphic, documents, or sounds made by user). Netscape Navigator 9.0

Netscape Navigator version 9.0 adds URL correction for common typos, in-browser voting on popular, a sidebar minibrowser, and compatibility with Firefox 2 extensions.

What is Netscape Navigator 9.0?
Netscape.com is a huge part of the new Navigator: some new features might not be of interest if you don't hang out there. The Share button inside the address bar connects you directly to Netscape.com.

Netscape Browser provides more security options, streamlines more standard browsing tasks and arms internet users with more timesaving solutions to their browsing needs.

Netscape 9.0 Features:
- URL correction. Navigator will automatically correct common typos made in Web addresses. Examples: .cmo => .com, htp:// => http://, netscape, com => netscape.com
- Cross-platform. Run Navigator 9 on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux.
- Sidebar. Use the sidebar as a "mini browser" to keep a page in plain sight while you surf through other pages. Drag and drop links on the sidebar or right-click and choose "Open in Sidebar" to use the sidebar browser.
- FF2 Extensions. Install any Firefox ® 2-compatible extension.
- Link Pad. Use the Link Pad as a holding area for interesting links that don’t merit bookmarking.
- Site Controls. The new Netscape Browser gives you more ways to make your browser secure.
- Spyware & Adware Protection. The Netscape Browser provides real time Spyware scanning when you download files from the web. You may also run memory and disk scans for Spyware protection and prevention.
- Real-Time Feeds. The Netscape Browser takes the mystery out of Real Simple Syndication (RSS) and allows you to read and manage RSS feeds without the need of a separate news reader application.
- Security Center. Quickly view the status of security protection provided by the Netscape Browser. The browser will automatically let you know when there is a problem.
- MultiBar. MultiBars let you customize up to ten different browser toolbars you can access with a single click.
- Form Fill/Passcard. The Netscape Browser makes remembering your site passwords and filling out information forms on site simple.
- Live Content. With Live Content you have one-click access to information important to you.
- Profiles. Create more than one profile to keep your bookmarks and passcards safe from other users. If you have a family, create a profile for your children and make use of the parental controls feature.
- Tabbed Browsing. Tabbed browsing lets you have multiple web pages open in one window. This feature is great for organizing and freeing up desktop space because it files your web pages in a series of tabs.

Most of the bundled features from version 8 have been removed. IE mode, integrated AOL IM, RSS reader, form filler, and security suite are gone, but the compatibility with Firefox 2 extensions and LinkPad more than make up for the loss. The innovations here might make this more than a backup browser.

In addition to high-speed browsing and instant-messaging capabilities, Netscape features one-click searching from the address bar; Quick Launch, which reduces the browser start-up time; Click-to-Search, which allows users to select a word within a Web page and search; improved instant messaging, including support for buddy icons, file transfers, and buddy alerts; and tabbed browsing, which allows users to view multiple Web pages in a single browser window.
